Dream Questions - Miscellaneous

Dream Warehouse Dream Question: I dream I am in a warehouse and I am lost. I almost find the exit, but it always the wrong turn.

If I can just get outside I can go around to the other side (front) and go in the right way into the store (grocery I think).

I’ve had this dream before. What does it mean? Thank-you.

Answer: This is a very common dream theme. It is definitely a release dream where you are processing feelings of confusion and frustration….feeling stuck.

Match up these emotions to your thinking and doings of your current waking life...where do feelings like this show up mostly? Just being aware of when this is happening can help to bring solutions to problems in everyday life.

Think about the buildings and what they are used for...warehouses are places of storage and grocery stores are places where you have access to needed supplies.

It seems that you are reaching for ideas and solutions from the ‘storehouse’ within yourself. Learn to see your dreams symbolically and then interpretation becomes a lot easier.

Dream Question: had a steamy dream about an ex-boyfriend from almost 10 years ago. What the heck does this mean?!

Answer: It sounds like a nice dream :-) There must have been something about him that you liked. What personality characteristics come to mind when you think about him? How do these feelings translate to what is going on in your current life?

It doesn't necessarily mean anything romantic...your subconscious equates everything with emotional vibration and brings up pictoral matches.

On the other hand, it could simply mean the release of sexual tension while sleeping. I have more written about dreaming of exes in my Common Dreams page ==> Dreaming of Your Ex?

Dream Sunset Dream Question: My husband last night had a dream that woke him up, he dreamt that he was struggling to breathe, like he was drowning, but there was no water. I have had a look through your site but cannot find any information on what this could mean.

Answer: The first question to ask is: What are the symbols (or actions) in the dream? Then ask...what were the emotions involved?

Symbols
- air supply is cut off as if drowning
- absence of water

Emotions
- struggling, panic

Then you want to look for metaphors. This is how our subconscious likes to show us something.

Can't breath = suffocating. Is there currently a situation in your husband's life that is 'overwhelming' or suffocating him?

Water is an archetype, or universal symbol for emotion. The absence of water may be indicative of lack of feeling, or not allowing them to surface. He may be literally choking on pent up emotion.

Another possibilty is something going on with the body that leaks into the dream. Does he have any sleep apnea or serious snoring issues where he is not getting enough air? Does he have asthma?

These are just a few ideas to get you thinking.

Dream Question: I keep dreaming that my 12 year is being burned to death. There is always a fire that I don't see but people tell me she was burned and died. How do you interpret this? Thanks.

Answer: I can understand how upsetting a dream like this might be! But most of the time, they are not prophetic and no one is going to die.

We worry about our children and sometimes those worries need to be brought to the surface and released. However, since it is a recurring dream, do you have particular concerns for your daughter - like being taken advantage of... "burned", so to speak?

Or, perhaps you are picking up on something about your daughter's life that you need to be aware of on the conscious level (people telling you about the fire that you can't see).

Before falling asleep tonight, ask for more clarity on this dream. You may get insights either in a following dream, or just 'out of the blue' during the day.

Dream Sunset Dream Question: What is the significance of eggs in a big container seen in a dream…then another smaller container with a few broken eggs?

Answer: Your dream sounds very symbolic with the large container of unbroken eggs and then the smaller one with the eggs broken.

It sounds to me like a comparison of some kind.

Eggs have the potential for life, or something new. The large container may represent your possibilites of some sort... which are many.

The broken eggs are only a few and may show that you have already explored some opportunity, or perhaps that you have wasted them, but there is always more from the unbroken pile.

Ask yourself what you are striving for or thinking about in waking life to fit this scenario. If this doesn't ring true for you, then ask yourself what an egg represents for you and go on from there.

The Moon
Did you know...

...that the older you get, the less REM (dreaming sleep) periods you experience each night.

Babies get up to 8 hours of REM in a 24 hour period while a 2 year old child enters REM about 50% of their sleep time.

REM time for a senior citizen is only about 15%.
