Types of Dreams ~ Precognitive and Telepathic Dreams

Precognitive (or prophetic) and telepathic types of dreams go hand in hand since they are pulling information outside of our own subconscious. Somehow, we are tapping into a collective source of information and our sleeping minds are very receptive to any energy that may be directed at us in particular.

Telepathic Dreams

Telepathic dreams are the more common of the two. For instance, when I was younger I dreamed that my grandfather was sitting in our living room rocking chair, when he suddenly turned grey and keeled over...dead. It was very real and I felt overwhelming sadness to the point that I had tears in my eyes as I woke up.

I immediately told my parents about it and not an hour later, we got a call that my grandfather had indeed passed away about an hour before. What was really remarkable about this was we had not seen or spoken to him in over 15 years.

Perhaps in his passing, my grandfather's spirit stopped by to let us know, and I was the only one to pick up on it. Who knows? It's as good an explanation as any.

I've had quite a few telepathic dreams of a less dramatic nature over the years, and it is a good reminder of how interconnected we all really are...no doubt about it. The trouble though, is that most of the time (at least with me), you don't know they are telepathic until confirmed later.

Precognitive Dreams

True Precognitive dreams are rare for most of us. I don't remember ever having one myself. These are not your everyday deja-vu dreams (which I'll get to in a minute), but actual fore-knowledge of events that you couldn't possibly have had any conscious connection to.

From all the reading I've done, I've gathered that these types of dreams seem to be mostly tragic in nature and serve as a dire warning of sorts. It's an interesting fact that scores of people dreamt about 9/11 months before it happened. But, not until after it came to pass, did they realize that their dream was actually prophetic.

So, how do you know if a dream is truly a prophetic one? Well, you don't really. People have reported these dreams to be super-vivid and the content just seems out of the ordinary. Also, like message dreams, they have a progressive sequence of events, or story line.

Deja-vu Dreams

Now, what about those deja-vu types of dreams? For example, when you are awake and you do something really ordinary like walk across the street and then stop to pick up a dime laying there. At that instant, you feel like you've done this exact motion before and realize you actually dreamt it a couple of nights ago.

I think these little deja-vu snippets show how incredibly bright our subconscious minds are. As your sleeping mind is working through your daily happenings, it puts two and two together and creates these little projections of predictable behavior.

I've had many of these deja-vu types of dreams...does this mean I'm a really predictable person? :-)

The famous psychic, Sylvia Browne has another explanation for these deja-vu dreams that I kind of like: These dreams are sign posts (agreed upon through our life contracts) letting us know that we are on the right track and our life is exactly the way it's supposed to be!
